AdaniConneX and DE-CIX India have partnered to establish a new interconnection hub at the Chennai 1 data centre, strengthening connectivity options for enterprises, cloud providers and telecom operators.
The new point of presence will give customers at the facility direct access to DE-CIX India’s internet exchange, cloud connectivity and enterprise networking services. The move is expected to support faster data exchange, lower latency and improved network performance for organisations operating from the campus.
The Strategic Role of Chennai
Chennai is becoming an increasingly important location in India’s digital infrastructure landscape. Its international subsea cable landing stations give the city a strategic role in connecting India with global internet networks, while growing demand for cloud services, data localisation and data-intensive applications is further increasing the need for stronger interconnection infrastructure.
Expanding the Interconnection Ecosystem
The Chennai deployment also extends DE-CIX India’s national interconnection ecosystem. Customers will be able to connect with more than 600 networks, including telecom operators, internet service providers, cloud companies and content platforms. This could provide businesses with greater flexibility when managing connectivity and accessing digital services.
The partnership highlights an important shift in the data centre industry. Building computing capacity is no longer enough; data centres also need strong links to networks, cloud platforms and the wider digital ecosystem.
AdaniConneX and DE-CIX India are also exploring the possibility of expanding similar interconnection capabilities to additional AdaniConneX campuses across India, potentially strengthening the country’s broader digital infrastructure network.
